While growing up, we experience that sometimes we have to let go of things like bribery, corruption, gender discrimination, monopoly etc. There would be people enjoying racist jokes, people making things difficult for us without any apparent reason, people hating each other, and often people taking advantage of our helpful and generous qualities.
But, there is a reason why we go through such education. If we do not know what humanity is we would never understand when someone is being inhuman. If there is no balance to measure good and bad within us, we may never be able to judge things and learn what life has to offer.
People have a lot of myths about things like, alcohol drinking, cross-dressing, homosexuality, etc. If the people who responsibly drink, practice homosexuality or may be even cross-dress enjoy what they do, why is it that we as a society cannot accept it. If we were open minded about it, there was no need for them to hide, feel ashamed, or even lie to themselves. These things are an issue because we make a big deal out of it.
We need to identify the genuine problems in society. Despite our efforts the real issues such as, corruption, racism, killing, deforestation and unmanageable waste are still unresolved.
Where do we see ourselves on the scale of black and white, when everything in the world is so grey? We need not judge people in general, before we have judged ourselves.
I know what I was, I know what I have become and I am responsible for what I will be.
I learnt all the virtues and experienced all the vices and through all these years I have chosen what to take and what to leave. I have grown up not to become a stereotype but to become Myself.
