Happy Dushera!

Hi there!
Today was a very eventful day. I worked in kitchen, I performed Pooja and all. It was great to know that I can actually make 'chapatis' . lol.
Well, I do cook quite well but still have a long way to go. hehe.
I like to cook for myself.
I'll be meeting many of my relatives tonight. It is going to be great.

Dushera is basically a Hindu festival. It has a very interesting mythological significance. Once in Ramayan, ShriRam did vadh of the Ravan (He killed Ravan) and rescued Sitaji (ShriRam's beloved wife). So, it is said that 'Good wins over Evil' on this day.
People celeberate this occasion in avery different and interesting manner, fairs are held, at some places 'Ramlila' is organized, Ramayan is recited and most importantly, effigies of Ravan, his brother and son are set on fire in the middle of the ground which signifies the 'end of the Evil and victory of the Good'. People do Pooja of 'Vidya'(Knowledge and skill) and 'Vaahan'(transport vehicles/animals). And generally people consider this day very auspicious to buy new vehicle.
Precisely, it is a wonderful festival.
